Several scouts finished up their E.V. Science requirements at Camp Zinda's by clearing and reclaiming an area where deer and other animals gather for drinking water. You guys did a great job.!

    Summer Camp at Gardner Dam

This year was another huge success at summer camp. I believe everone learned a great deal about patrol cooking all week and there was definate improvement in your cooking skills throughout the week. We just need a litle improvement on getting cleanup done quicker so you have more free time. It seems like everyone had a great time and you even earned 3rd place in the waterfront games which was another well earned bonus for the week.

I was also impressed in the amout of merit badges you guys earned. You guys exceeded my expectations!

    Thanks,
    MrZ

    Mirror Lake Camping/Devil's Lake Climbing

It seemed like everyone had a great time hiking and climbing at Devil's Lake, and camping at Mirror Lake whether you were getting creeped-out playing "Slender Man" at night or playing "T-Rex Football". You all did a great job climbing and Sam looked like he learned a thing or two cooking up some flapjacks. We also enjoyed having a few members from Troop 115 join us for the weekend and hope to team up for another outing in the future.

It sounds like everyone wants to do this again next year. Maybe they can add one or two more even more challenging climbing areas to climb.

You are a great group of scouts and had a great time with you as usual. It was also great to see Mr. Wright, Mr. Singers, Mr. Timmerman, Mrs. Valenta and Mrs. Zinda getting involved with the boys and making it successful weekend. Thanks for your help!

We had a great turnout at Long Lake this year. Boy Scout Troop 165 attendees included Cal, Ginger, Hunter, Wyatt, Gage, Emmett, Alex T, Alex J, Keenan, Rockwell, Caden, Sam, Mr. Zinda and Mr. Ward, Thanks to all of you for making it another memorable year at Summer Camp! A special thanks to parents who came out and helped with "Night Shift"

There were a lot of Merit Badges earned this year and everyone at camp loved you giant tree swing including the staff, ... well most of the staff.

  • June 4th-5th-6th (cancelled)

    Camp Valenta (Will re-schedule later)

Camp Valenta is scheduled to help the boys out with skill training. The new scouts will be covering the requirements for Tenderfoot, Second and First Class that they will not cover at summer camp. The other scout's activities are still in the planning stage but will probably be something boring like jousting, sword fighting or an introduction to battle axes and other assorted medieval weapons training! Maybe we could even throw in some sweet ninja skills.
    Thanks,
    MrZ

    CampSilverbrook-2-1 CampSilverbrook-2-2 CampSilverbrook-2-3 CampSilverbrook-2-4 CampSilverbrook-2-5 CampSilverbrook-2-6 CampSilverbrook-2-7

Even thought it started out a little cool dipping down below freezing, I hope everyone enjoyed the Camp Silverbrook campout even though we were forced to stay in a cabin instead of tents due to the weather. (Everyone seemed pretty upset that we couldn't stay outside in the cold wet weather ;) They said the tents looked great, everyone did an outstanding job keeping busy during set-up. I think we put them up in a record time this year! Thanks to Tommy and Josh for their tasty meals and everyone else for helping out with clean-up. We'd also like to thank Joel for coming out and checking out the troop, I think you may have even had some fun. Good job guys!
    Thanks,

    Whitcomb2 UpComing2012
    Whitcomb1

    Camp Whitcomb time again

Just look at the excited faces as we're serving our 'world famous' "MEAT BROWNIES"! They were awesome and they went fast! This is our annual "Electronics Weekend" where you bring all the electronics you can carry! X-Box, Wii, Playstation, Sega ...? really? This the one event per year you can get all of the gaming out of your system at a scouting event.

This was a great time, as usual. Even though we did get a chance to get outside and get some learning done. The new boys even got to tryout the Atl-Atl. Thanks for the great memories guys!

    Thanks,
    MrZ
